Luis Advis Vitaglic (1935-2004) is one of the most outstanding Chilean composers of the second half of the twentieth century.

His music is a perfect mixture of classical and popular traditions, denoting big influences from Richard Wagner, Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, and Violeta Parra.

In the 1960s he participated actively in the New Chilean Song movement, producing several compositions and arrangements for the musical groups Quilapayun and Inti-Illimani.

The main purpose of this blog is to offer a musicological vision of Advis's most important works: "Cantata Popular Santa Maria de Iquique," "Canto para una Semilla," and "Sinfonia Los Tres Tiempos de America," composed between 1970 and 1986.
